3 Easy Smokey Looks For All Eye Shapes

A smokey eye doesn't always have to be dark and bold, well at least not for me :)

I like to experiment with colors and shapes in order to get either a day-time or a night-time appropriate smokey look.
I know that some people might find it difficult and time consuming to create these kind of looks, so I decided to show you the easiest, quickest and most basic shadow combinations that you can adapt according to your own taste.

Smokey With Liner

If you don't have much time to get ready in the morning because you have to rush to work/school/university, this is the perfect look since you only need to apply one eye shadow. Basically, this is what I wear all year round with different colored eye shadows. It sounds really boring but in the end, it's all about the liner, which is going to intensify and smoke out the look.

I normally tend to go for MAC's Satin Taupe (I use Maybelline's Permanent Taupe Color Tattoo cream shadow as a base) as a base color but I decided to switch it up for my readers' sake :)

Gold-Brown Smokey

Since this look is darkest around the lash line, it's the most perfect option for those of you who have hooded eyes. In this case, no matter if you're going for a black, brown, gold, taupe or colorful smokey eye, the key is to concentrate the darkest color (preferably black or dark grey/brown)along the lash line and let it fade into a lighter color that you will apply all over the lid.

My tip would be to apply your shadows while looking straight ahead into a mirror because only then you'll be able to see which part of your lid is going to be visible.

Grey-Black Cat Eye Smokey

Since I have pretty round and big eyes, I really love blending the outer corners into a cat eye shape just to give my eyes a little bit more length. If I'm not doing a bold liner look, I mostly opt for this kind of smokey eye.

  8. Beautiful job - on all three of them. I also like to experiment with makeup. I think the gold-brown one is the most versatile.
